Google continues to improve the menu section in Google Docs, Slides
What’s changing: Based on usage data and user feedback, Google has made changes to the menu (category) and toolbar (toolbar) in Google Docs and Slides on the Web. They are similar to previous changes and will make it easier to find certain items. Among them, a few typical changes include:
Features to add a line or page break in Docs:
- Before: Insert > Page break or Column break
- Now: Insert > Break > Page break or Column break

To add Alt text to shapes in Docs and Slide
- Before: Choose Shape > Format > Alt text. This option will be removed from the menu
- Now: Right click on Shape > Alt Text. This is a new way to add Alt text to shapes.

*Alt text is text used to describe certain elements (images, shapes, etc.) on the page that cannot be read by the user.
To change the shape in Slides:
- Before: Choose shape > Format > Change shape. This option will be removed from the category
- Now: Right click on Shape > Change Shape. This is a new way to change a shape
Viewing HTML in Slides will be removed from the category
- Previously: View > HTML
- Now: Ctrl+Alt+Shift+P

These changes will only affect the visual catalog. All options will still be available through keyboard shortcuts and the search section in the Help directory.
