Scroll through live captions and translated captions in Google Meet

What’s changing 

Google is improving the live captions and translated captions experience in Google Meet by including the ability to scroll through the text. Previously, captions were displayed in real-time, but disappeared once they were no longer relevant to the current conversation. This update makes it possible to scroll back and review the last 30 minutes of captions at your own pace. This can be particularly helpful if you’ve missed a portion of the conversation or you want to review specific details mentioned earlier in the conversation.

Getting started

• Admin: There is no admin control for this feature.
• End users: Visit the Help Center to learn more about  using live captions in Google Meet, as well as a list of available languages for captions  and translated captions.

Rollout pace

• Rapid Release domains: Gradual rollout (up to 15 days for feature visibility) starting on February 18, 2025
• Scheduled Release domains: Gradual rollout (up to 15 days for feature visibility) starting on March 6, 2025

Availability

• Available to all Google Workspace customers, as well as legacy G Suite Basic and Business customers. Also available for users with personal Google accounts
