Feature to save photos to Google Photos directly from Gmail

What’s changing

Now, when you receive a photo attachment in a Gmail message, you can save it directly to Google Photos using the new “Save to Photos” button. You'll see it next to the existing “Add to Drive” button on attachments and while previewing image attachments. Currently, this feature is only available for JPEG images.
