G Suite: See additional activities in device audit logs
What’s changing: Device test log in the admin console provides reports on the activity of the mobile device and desktop managed in the enterprise. Previously, this report was limited to businesses that had advanced mobile device management enabled. To make it even more useful, here's a look at some of the features in this report for G Suite Business, Enterprise, and Enterprise for Education users. Admin can see these features even if only mode enabled Basic mobile device management and endpoint verification.
These customers can now use this report to:
- Find out when a G Suite account was added to a device.
- Find out when to turn your device's screen lock on and off.
In addition, the device audit log will now include admin activities, such as when requesting or performing account deletion. Information about these activities can help you keep users' devices and the data therein safe. You can find this report in the admin console under Reports > Audit > Devices.
At launch, for customers using basic mobile device management and verification, this report will only show events for the Android device and managed endpoint verification. Google is working to expand coverage to more devices in the future.
