Introducing Google Workspace – G Suite 2020

Google is pleased to announce that G Suite is now renamed Google Workspace customers: everything you need to get things done, all in one place. The New feature of Google Workspace:

  • User experience is deeply integrated help teams collaborate more effectively, frontline workers stay connected, and businesses deliver new digital customer experiences
  • New brand identity  helps reflect our ambitious product vision and how our products work together
  • New ways to start with solutions tailored to the unique needs of many customers

As part of the transformation, we are growing its services to better serve the diverse purchasing needs of our large and expanding customer base.

  • For smaller businesses, we're introducing tailored services that make getting started with Google Workspace easy and cost-effective—including the best productivity and collaboration tools on the market, security measures and administrative controls.
  • For larger businesses, we will introduce a suite of products with additional productivity features, enterprise-grade administrative controls, and our most advanced security and compliance capabilities. applied at both group and organizational levels.

What's changed with Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) plans

Basic, Business, Enterprise customers

As an existing G Suite Basic, Business or Enterprise customer, you can rest assured that we will provide you with the time and support needed to transition to one of these new services. Please look for an email for your domain's primary administrator to arrive no later than Friday, October 16. This email will outline the specific impact to your organization and who to contact for more information .

Education and Nonprofit customers 

Google will also include Google Workspace (Google Workspace Education) to our educational and nonprofit customers in the coming months. Education customers can continue to access Google tools through G Suite for education, including Classroom, Handouts, Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides and Meet. G Suite for Nonprofits will continue to be available to eligible organizations through the Google for Nonprofits program.

Essentials customers

G Suite Essentials will now be called Google Workspace Essentials. There are no changes for this customer group

The productivity apps you know and love in G Suite aren't going away — Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Meet, Chat, and all the other apps will continue to be the foundation of your experience. Google Workspace experience. Going forward, Google will continue to develop its products to be more flexible, more useful, and simpler. 

Getting started

Admins: Primary domain admins will receive an email from Google no later than Friday, October 16. This email will outline the specific impact on your organization and who to contact for more information.

End users: End users will see the new Google Workspace name and icon reflected across Google products and properties in the coming weeks.
