Free offer of advanced Google Meet features will end from September 30, 2020
Gimasys would like to inform G Suite users (Google Workspace customers) currently knows that the free promotional period for access to larger meetings and live streaming in Google Meet will end on September 30, 2020. However, meetings are recorded during the Promotional time will remain in the respective owner's Drive.
To help businesses and employees stay connected during the Covid-19 epidemic, earlier this year, Google enabled Advanced features of Google Meet, normally only available in G Suite Enterprise, is free for all G Suite customers globally through September 30, 2020. These premium features include:
- Larger meetings for up to 250 participants
- Go live for up to 100K viewers in your domain
- Record meetings to Google Drive to share with those who can't attend
What does this mean for G Suite customers?
Starting October 1, 2020, if a business's domain does not have G Suite Enterprise, they will revert to standard G Suite Basic and Business features:
Google Meet – G Suite Basic
- Meetings of up to 100 participants
- No live streaming
- Can invite people from other domains
Google Meet – G Suite Business
- Meetings of up to 150 participants
- No live streaming
- There are other basic features of Google Meet
What you need to do?
- If you are using G Suite and want to continue to fully utilize enhanced Meet functionality after September 30, 2020, you should contact Gimasys to upgrade to G Suite Enterprise edition
- If you want to try G Suite Enterprise for free before purchasing, you can contact Gimasys for a 14-day trial
- If you don't feel the need to use those features, starting October 1, 2020, Google Meet functionality for larger meetings and live streaming will return to the functionality originally associated with the version of G Suite your organization is currently using.
