In 2021, Google will be making some changes to how Google Photos, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drawings, Forms, and Jamboard content are stored, which may affect your domain.

Video meeting participants can now let you know if they have a question or indicate they want to speak by raising their hand in Meet. To raise your hand to ask a question in Meet, click the “Raise Hand” button on the bottom bar displayed during the meeting. Once the button is pressed, it will turn into a “Lower Arm” button, which you can click to lower your arm.

You can now schedule events in Calendar directly from your Google Chat chats. You'll see a new icon in the chat's compose bar.

With this release, you can now create a custom role that allows administrators to assign a specific set of viewing, posting, and moderating permissions to users in a certain group. By adding this feature to the new Groups, Google hopes to make it faster and easier to manage group permissions at scale while ensuring all users have the right permissions in your groups.

Previously, Google launched attendance reporting in Google Meet for education-level meetings. Google is currently making a number of improvements to provide more access, control, and visibility to meeting reports and live streams. Specifically, we're adding: Live stream viewership data. Admin controls based on attendance tracking. New settings to control report generation. The number of viewers in the call for live events. Attendance reports for more clients.

Starting December 3, 2020, Google will make three changes to the way group chats in Google Chat work: Add and change members. You will be able to add and change members of new group chats. Google Vault retention policies vary. If you've set retention policies on Vault, updated group chats will respect different retention policies. Compatibility with old Hangouts. Hangouts group chats will start appearing in Google Chat in the coming weeks.
